Friday: Ferrari will attempt a last-chance attack

Fernando Alonso – 7th and 6th: « We cannot say it was a good start, as we were not competitive, but if we compare it to last year, at the end of a difficult weekend we managed to reach the podium, so we are not throwing in the towel yet. We still have to analyze the data, but we need to be realistic, because when we have one car in sixth place and the other in fifteenth, it’s clearly not the result we were expecting, considering the improvements we made for this race. Now, we have a lot of work to do to find the right settings and the best strategy. Then, we will need to have a very good qualifying lap and attack from the beginning to the end during the race. However, we know it will not be easy because the laps require a high level of downforce, we suffer more, and, like in Hungary, except for the fact that Mercedes seems to be on equal footing with Red Bull here, the others also seem quite strong, such as Lotus and McLaren. »

Felipe Massa – 12th and 15th: « It was a difficult day because I struggled to find how to move forward during both sessions. During the first session, we focused on evaluating variations in aerodynamic components, during the second, we applied ourselves to completing the program, doing a long stint, starting on supersofts and ending on mediums. With the team, we decided to go in another direction to try and find a setup with which I would feel better on the track. Unfortunately, it didn’t yield the expected results. I think that for tomorrow’s qualifying, we will need to go back on our steps, trying to improve the balance of the car. I’m sure it will be better and I will try once again to find the car I’m used to driving. »
