Friday: Toro Rosso drivers expect a step forward in Singapore

After delivering a strong performance on a low-downforce circuit like Monza, the Toro Rosso drivers are arriving at a circuit with the opposite configuration. Far from being displeased, this Friday leaves them hoping for a step up in the hierarchy, and both will aim for Q3 access this Saturday.

Friday: Toro Rosso drivers expect a step forward in Singapore

Jean-Eric Vergne: 9th and 12th: « We have new parts for the car here and we’ve spent quite a bit of time understanding how they work. I would say they have shown good potential for improvement. Everything went smoothly, and now it’s the usual routine of data collection to find the best setups for tomorrow. It’s going to be a long night for everyone, but I’m confident that we’ll come back with something useful. As for the usual tire evaluation, I did a long stint on super softs, I had a good feeling and was comfortable with them. The important point we need to work on tomorrow is the car’s balance. »

Daniel Ricciardo: 18th and 11th: « In the first session, we found ourselves a bit at the back of the pack, as I wasn’t really comfortable with what I had underneath me. We made some adjustments for the second session, and they achieved what we hoped for, which is a positive point. Now we need to fine-tune these settings to have a good setup. In the configuration with high downforce levels and high temperatures, we have somewhat struggled this year, but I feel that the changes to the car should help us take a step forward, even though in Formula 1 you must always remember that other teams are also developing their cars. Today, both Jean-Eric and I were outside the top ten, but I’m sure we can move forward by tomorrow, and if we get into Q3, then we can hope for a good race on Sunday.
