Ferrari fined at Monza
By releasing Felipe Massa too late during the first practice session, Ferrari made a costly mistake: 10,000 euros.
The end of the first Friday morning practice session nearly turned into a disaster for Ferrari: the team released Felipe Massa too late. The Brazilian almost collided with his teammate Fernando Alonso, who was stopped at the pit exit to simulate a start. Felipe Massa then had to perform an emergency brake to avoid the collision. His mechanics had to come and push his car back to the pit.
The FIA determined that no sporting gain was achieved during this red-light violation. However, they sanctioned the team for this error with a fine of 10,000 euros.
