Friday: Grand debut for James Calado at Sahara Force India
James Calado was able to complete his first practice session for Sahara Force India. He then handed the steering wheel back to Adrian Sutil. The team's two main drivers did not encounter any particular problems and are aiming for a Q3 entry during tomorrow's qualifying.
Paul di Resta – 15th and 11th
The car seems relatively well-balanced, but we have not yet managed to get into the top 10. Therefore, we need to work tonight to try to improve a bit more. Getting into Q3 tomorrow is our main goal, which is clearly achievable. The competition seems less tight than in other races, but we appear to be close to McLaren. The tires are behaving as we expected, and we have gathered a lot of data to work on tonight.
Adrian Sutil – 13th during the second session
Monza is an unusual track. So it was a bit difficult today to get the best out of the car. We need to look at many things tonight because we need to improve the car under braking and make it easier to drive as I currently lack overall grip. For the tires, we have the data we need and the performance on long runs seems good.
James Calado – 17th in the first session
« Great: that’s the only word I can use to describe the day. It took some time to get used to the car again, but once I was familiar with everything, I was able to drive consistently and achieve some reasonable lap times. The balance of the car was good, and everything went well during this session. I learned a lot and hopefully, we can have good data for the team. I want to thank Sahara Force India for the opportunity, and I’m already looking forward to getting back in the car later in the year. »
