The Circuit de Catalunya becomes the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

The Circuit de Catalunya, which has hosted the Spanish Grand Prix since 1991 and regularly holds winter private testing sessions, has changed its name to become the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya following the signing of a partnership with the city of Barcelona.

The objective is also to better associate the Spanish city with the circuit located in Montmelo, a town situated in the Barcelona metropolitan area. For the occasion, the circuit has also designed a new logo which still features the shape of the track along with the new name and the shape of Catalonia drawn with a checkered flag.

Vicenç Aquilera, the President of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, expressed his delight with this partnership with the city of Barcelona in a statement published on the circuit’s website: « The city of Barcelona has a lot of strengths and an international projection, and we believe that the new name, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, will help us strengthen our structure even more, as we have done in recent years with the promotion of F1 and MotoGP Grand Prix. »
