James Calado appointed as the 3rd driver for Force India
James Calado has been recruited by the Sahara Force India team as the team's third driver. The Briton, currently a GP2 Series competitor, will drive the VJM06 this Friday in Monza during the first free practice session.
The Sahara Force India team announced the recruitment of James Calado as a reserve driver. The British driver will make his official debut with the team this Friday at Monza where he will drive during the free practice sessions.
The 24-year-old GP2 driver has already driven for the Indian team; it was in July this year at Silverstone during the young driver tests, and he managed to stand out to convince the Force India team to recruit him.
« We worked with James during the Silverstone tests and he impressed everyone with his speed and consistency. We have always tried to help young drivers, and it’s a good opportunity for James to gain experience by driving at Formula 1 events, » said Vijay Mallya, the team boss.
An experience that will begin this Friday on the legendary Monza track where the Briton will drive for 90 minutes: « James will take part in the first practice session on Friday. He will also participate in free practice at several other Grand Prix this year. It’s always interesting to have the feedback of another driver in the car, and it will help us evaluate James. »
