Felipe Nasr at Toro Rosso in 2014?
One of the contenders for the GP2 title this year, Felipe Nasr does not hide his desire to join the Formula 1 World Championship, and he is reportedly in talks with the Toro Rosso team to succeed Daniel Ricciardo if the latter joins Red Bull.
Felipe Nasr started single-seater racing in 2008, consistently following the same path so far: a learning year in a championship followed by a second year to claim the title. He achieved this in Formula BMW, in Formula 3, and is well on his way to doing it in GP2. Indeed, with three meetings left in the season, he is only 5 points behind the leader, Stefano Coletti.
Nasr has not hidden his desire to join F1 as soon as possible and with a lack of Brazilian drivers, Bernie Ecclestone might even be willing to help him. While the possible options seemed to be Marussia, Caterham, Sauber, Williams, or even Force India, the Brazilian might eventually land at Toro Rosso.
In the event of Daniel Ricciardo leaving Red Bull, the seat that would be vacated seemed destined for Antonio Felix da Costa. However, according to Michael Schmidt of *Auto Motor und Sport*, the recent dip in form of the Portuguese in Formula Renault 3.5 could be detrimental to him: « People in Brazil say that GP2 star Felipe Nasr is knocking on Toro Rosso’s door with money from Banco do Brasil and Sky Brazil. »
