Sunday: Mercedes focuses only on the positives

Although Lewis Hamilton started on pole position at Spa, it didn't take long for Vettel to take control of the race. His teammate, Nico Rosberg, held his ground, finishing 4th. After the race, both Mercedes drivers agreed that there are many positive aspects to take away, while hoping to do better next time.

Sunday: Mercedes focuses only on the positives

Lewis Hamilton – 3rd:

« I got everything I could out of the car today, but we weren’t as fast as Sebastian and Fernando. I had a good start and felt that the corner exit was good as well. But Seb passed me at the exit of Eau Rouge and there wasn’t much I could do to defend. It was very hard to keep up with him, and the same happened with Fernando later in the race. We did a good job this weekend, but Spa and Monza are always unique tracks with specific demands, and I hope we will be more competitive in Singapore again. It’s always a good result for the team to finish third with Nico right behind me in fourth place, so we’ll take the positives from this afternoon and carry them into the next races. »

Nico Rosberg – 4th:

« The fourth place is a reasonable result for me today, and it’s great that we managed to bring home big points for the team with Lewis’ third place. The weekend wasn’t perfect for me with qualifying not going as well as planned. I got a great start, but I couldn’t go as long as planned on the second stint. But towards the end, it was nice to keep Mark behind me and secure fourth place. We have a lot of work ahead of us and we need to examine the reasons why we weren’t as competitive as some of the other teams today. »
