James Allison will join Ferrari in September

Just before the Spanish Grand Prix, Lotus and James Allison announced their separation. Following this, the future destination of the Briton became the subject of numerous rumors.

Allison was sent to different teams, including Scuderia Ferrari, McLaren, and the engine manufacturer Honda, which will return to F1 in 2015. For the moment, the Ferrari option seemed the most serious, but nothing was confirmed. It is now official since the Maranello team has just published a statement on its website.

Ferrari announces that from September 1st, James Allison will join the Scuderia as the Chassis Technical Director. At the same time, Pat Fry will take on a new role as Director of Engineering. Both men will report directly to the team director, Stefano Domenicali, the statement specifies.

Allison will therefore be present for Scuderia Ferrari’s home Grand Prix, which will take place between September 6 and 8 on the legendary Monza track, near Milan. With this arrival, Pat Fry – the current chassis technical director of Scuderia Ferrari – is promoted and will be in charge of all engineering within the Prancing Horse team.
