Sunday: Marussia finishes the race coasting
While Jules Bianchi was having a trouble-free race, he was forced to retire and had to stop at the side of the track. This retirement caused the safety car to be deployed as the Frenchman's car rolled backward in neutral and crossed the track on its own. Max Chilton, on the other hand, was unable to catch up with the Caterham drivers.
Max Chilton – 19th: « It wasn’t an easy race today. We struggled at the start and during the first few laps, and I started to get closer to Charles and Jules; I was happy with the car. Unfortunately for Jules, he had an engine problem and I then knew I had to do my best to get a result for the team. In the intermediate stint, there was nothing between us and the Caterhams, and then the safety car came out and changed everyone’s strategies. We made the right call, but we suffered from rear tire wear with still 10 laps to go. Overall, I was happy with my performance and speed today.

Jules Bianchi – Retirement: « Obviously, it’s disappointing to end my race so early due to the engine problem on the 22nd lap. I had a bad start and it was a real battle to recover from that and stay ahead of Pic. I had just made my second pit stop and overtaken van der Garde when my engine gave up, but I think we were capable of fighting to keep both Caterhams behind us if I could have continued. The car was well-balanced, and we had better race pace. It was a slightly less easy weekend for us, but maybe it just wasn’t our race, and we just have to move forward to the next one in Hungary. »
