Sunday: Hülkenberg secures another tenth place for Sauber
After a solid qualification (10th place for Hülkenberg and 14th for Gutierrez), the Hinwill team snatched the point for 10th place for the third time this season thanks to its German driver who was competing at home.
Nico Hülkenberg – 10th:
« It was a really tough race. I fought every lap, but that was all we were able to achieve today. To be honest, I expected us to be faster, but we weren’t. The car didn’t respond as well as I had hoped. I thought and hoped we could fight with the McLarens, but unfortunately, they were too fast for us today. It was a race with a lot of overtaking and wheel-to-wheel battles, which is always a lot of fun. However, having to fight for every position all the time is never good in terms of strategy, as the tires suffer and you lose time. Nevertheless, this weekend was better than the previous ones. We didn’t have any upgrades on the car, we just made a few adjustments to the setup and it worked well. »
Esteban Gutiérrez – 14th:
From the beginning to the end of the race, it was a fight for every position, so it was a very tough race. It was difficult to overtake because we lacked top speed on the straight. My pace was quite reasonable and I tried to do my best. The strategy wasn’t perfect: even though the plan was followed to the letter, we stopped just before the Safety Car, which didn’t make things easier.
