Sunday: No Miracle for Williams’ 600th
Starting from far back but at one point in the points with Pastor Maldonado, the venerable Groove team left their 600th Grand Prix in Formula 1 empty-handed, having lost a lot of time in the pits: the Venezuelan finished 15th ahead of his teammate in 16th.
Pastor Maldonado – 15th:
It was a good race in the sense that everything was going well for us and we were on our way to scoring points. It’s disappointing to finish there [Editor’s note: 15th] after the issues encountered in the pits [Editor’s note: stubborn extraction of the front-right wheel], but we must focus on the positives and move forward.
Valtteri Bottas – 16th:
« I didn’t get off to a good start today as I struggled to get off the starting line. We also lost time at each pit stop and we will need to analyze what happened. However, our pace was better than what we observed since the beginning of the weekend [Editor’s note: he set the 3rd fastest time on the 56th lap behind Alonso and Räikkönen], so we could have fought for points. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen that way. »
