The speed in the pit lane is limited to 60 km/h during practice and qualifying. Yet drivers are often caught for speeding.

It was this weekend during free practice for Giedo Van der Garde. The Caterham driver was caught speeding during free practice 1 at 74.7 km/h, resulting in a fine of 1000€ imposed by the International Automobile Federation, charged to his team.

The Dutch driver was caught speeding a second time at 61.3 km/h, still in a 60 km/h zone. The fine was set at €200 this time.

Fernando Alonso was also caught speeding on Saturday during qualifying. He entered the pit lane at a speed of 71.3 km/h, which is more than 11 km/h over the limit set by the FIA. The penalty for Ferrari is also a fine of €1000.
