Sunday: Hülkenberg’s incident ruins Sauber’s race
At the end of a difficult race for the Sauber team, neither of the two drivers managed to score points. The two drivers, who complained yesterday about a lack of speed, had other issues to deal with today, such as tire management but especially the incident in the pit lane between Vergne and Hülkenberg, who was penalized with a 10-second pit stop.
Nico Hülkenberg – 15th:
« We knew it would be a tough race today. The start went well and, until the incident in the pit lane, we were doing quite well. We had planned to make three stops, but then I had to move to four stops. But then we had the incident, which ruined the race for us. Obviously, the timing wasn’t right, but we are a team, we have to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Overall, the car was still quite difficult to drive, and I think we still have work ahead of us. »
Esteban Gutierrez – 11th:
I focused on getting the most out of the car today, and it was important to achieve such a result for myself and for the team. The team gave me the patience and the tools to improve as a driver and that is what I was able to get out of the car. It was a tough race and tire management was critical. The last two stints were a bit more challenging, but it’s a step forward.
