Tata Communications partners with Mercedes
Already a partner of F1 as a whole, Tata Communications has decided to also partner with a specific team. It is Mercedes, which will have the Indian group's connectivity between all the circuits and its headquarters in England.
With its agreement starting in February 2012, Tata Communications provides Formula 1 with its global fiber optic network, ensuring the secure transmission of its video images intended for its television partners.
For the agreement with Mercedes, it is about enabling the team to transmit its data even more rapidly in real time to its two British factories in Brackley and Brixworth. The goal is to be even more responsive to the information collected on the circuits, so that the headquarters can direct its developments in line with what materializes on the track.
Ross Brawn, the director of the team of the star firm, comments on this new collaboration: « The global network of Tata Communications will play an essential role in the team’s performance and in our ability to react during race weekends. It’s fantastic that we can go three times faster in our data transfer requirements. Having Tata Communications on-site at the circuit to work with the team will be an important asset in our demanding and fast-paced environment. We look forward to developing a close working relationship with them to achieve our objectives in Formula 1. »
We can thus see that the former Indian state monopoly is focusing its communication efforts on the core of its business, by forging partnerships that are certainly highly exposed in the media, but above all directly linked to its core business. It is able to demonstrate the value of its technology and services for sectors where speed is essential. This makes the communication impact much more significant than merely placing stickers on a car, no matter how prestigious it may be.
