Sunday: Sauber just wasn’t fast enough
Starting last, Esteban Gutiérrez did not have high hopes for this race. After a collision on the first lap, it became simply impossible to make a comeback. As for Nico Hülkenberg, his car did not allow him to finish in the points despite a good race.
Nico Hülkenberg – 12th:
« It was a difficult and frustrating weekend. It was clear from the beginning that we were not fast enough and that it would be tough. We are lacking speed and damaging our rear tires too much. So it just wasn’t enough this weekend. We pitted a bit too late because we expected to have more issues with low fuel, which ultimately didn’t happen. That cost us at least one position. This weekend clearly showed that we need to have new parts in Barcelona to improve our speed and fight for points. »
Esteban Gutiérrez – 18th:
I expected a tough race, and that’s what I got. We need to find more speed. On the first lap, I had contact at turn 10 which was very hard to avoid. Apart from that, things went pretty well. But obviously, finishing a race like this is clearly not enough, and we need to improve. We need to analyze our strategy and hopefully, we will bring good improvements to Barcelona.
