Planzer takes over the logistics for Sauber
If DHL continues to be the official logistics provider for F1 for distant races, the teams still have to manage logistics in Europe. Sauber has decided to completely outsource this task to the Planzler group.
As often with the agreements announced by Sauber, the one with Planzer, the Swiss logistics leader, is the extension of a long-standing partnership. Until now, Planzer was simply responsible for transporting the necessary equipment for the team to distant races to the airports of Munich and Milan (the closest to its base near Zurich). Beyond these airports, transportation was and still is provided by F1’s partner, DHL, according to the commercial agreements that bind the teams to Bernie Ecclestone’s FOM.
The new agreement now provides that Planzler will also take care of all transportation for Sauber in Switzerland and beyond its borders, which means that its drivers will transport equipment across the entire European continent, whether it be for races, private off-season testing, or demonstrations that the team might organize.
This extension of the partnership is with immediate effect. It will therefore be implemented upon the return of Formula 1 racing to Europe, during the Spanish Grand Prix on May 12th.
