Saturday: Unease in the Williams clan
Despite the progress made on the single-seater during the third free practice session, the Williams drivers are disappointed with their performance as Pastor Maldonado was caught out by the rain while Valtteri Bottas failed to make it past Q1.
Pastor Maldonado – 11th and 16th:
« We were unlucky with the arrival of rain in Q2, which forced us to stop our lap. The car seemed better on the track, and there was a chance to fight for a place in Q3. We still have work to do to improve the car and make up for our delay, but we’re going to work hard now to prepare for tomorrow’s race. »
Valtteri Bottas – 15th and 18th:
It was disappointing not to make it to Q2 today, especially since we saw that the car has improved compared to last week. The hard tires were very good on the car and reacted very well. We expected a much bigger gain by switching to the medium tires, but we didn’t get the additional grip. The lap times were very tight at the end and we missed Q2. But our pace on the long runs means we will try to gain a few places tomorrow compared to our position on the grid.
