The Circuit of the Americas hires the director of operations from Indianapolis

The Circuit of the Americas continues its development. It has just secured the services of a motorsports expert in the United States, as Mel Harder was the operations manager at the legendary Indianapolis circuit.

In his position, he was directly responsible for organizing legendary and world-class events, such as the Indianapolis 500, the Brickyard 400 (Nascar), and the Moto GP race. He will not be discovering F1 upon arriving in Texas since he was already in charge when it came to Indianapolis.

As general manager, he will report directly to the president, Steve Sexton: « Mel’s operational leadership at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has enabled this historic destination to prepare for hosting large-scale, first-class events, providing an extraordinary experience for competitors and fans, as well as achieving strong financial results. He has planned and implemented national and international competitions, including the United States Grand Prix when it was held at Indy and the MotoGP race. He has also enabled the company’s marketing partners to fully leverage their customer activation programs. Mel will be indispensable as the Circuit of the Americas expands both its motorsport and entertainment activities this season and its business model through innovative uses. »

The Austin circuit has already managed to attract numerous categories for the 2013 season since, in addition to Formula 1, MotoGP, V8 Supercars, and Grand-AM events will also take place there. Austin will also be a destination for the American Le Mans Series and the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
