OMP extends with Toro Rosso and joins Sauber
Sauber has decided to abandon the P1 suits in favor of those offered by OMP. Nico Hülkenberg and Esteban Gutierrez will therefore have the same suits as Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo since Toro Rosso has extended its own agreement with its Italian supplier.
The two companies have been partners for many years since the OMP logo has been visible on the Faenza drivers’ suits since the 2010 season. The extension of their agreement will be realized through the supply of not only suits and gloves, but also seatbelts and new shoes developed by the Genoese company.
The two partners obviously do not fail to emphasize their shared nationality, at a time when economic patriotism is also in effect on the other side of the Alps. This is how Paolo Delprato, CEO of OMP, stated: « Renewing the agreement with Scuderia Toro Rosso is further proof of our leadership in accessories in the field of motor racing and is, above all, confirmation of the continuous technical evolution of our products used at the highest level of motorsports. OMP and Toro Rosso represent two points of excellence of Made in Italy in the world of motorsports, a sector where performance and safety are naturally associated with innovation, high technology, and creativity. »
As for Sauber, they will be experiencing a third supplier of suits in four seasons since Sauber had chosen another company, P1, during the 2011 season, replacing Puma. The range of equipment supplied will be the same as for Toro Rosso, namely suits, underwear, gloves, shoes, and safety belts. Monisha Kaltenborn, the CEO of the Swiss team, stated: « OMP is a brand that has been established in motorsports for years. For us, the safety of our drivers and mechanics is paramount. That’s why we are delighted to welcome a leader in this field. »
