Ferrari supports the Italian navy
Since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2010, we knew that Italian politicians were interested in the management of Ferrari. At the next Indian Grand Prix, Ferrari will also make a political gesture by carrying the flag of the Italian navy.
The installation of this flag right between the single-seaters of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa aims to protest against the arrest of two Italian soldiers in India.
The two individuals have been imprisoned since last March following the death of two Indian fishermen whom the soldiers mistook for possible sea pirates. On board an Italian tanker, they opened fire and killed the two sailors who had not reacted to previous warning shots.
The political message from Ferrari is therefore unambiguous: « Ferrari pays tribute to one of the best entities in our country in the hope that the Indian and Italian authorities will quickly find a solution regarding the situation involving two Italian Navy marines. »
It should not be forgotten, in fact, that Luca di Montezemolo, the current president of the Italian company, does not hide his political aspirations. He is therefore using a national monument and the Indian Grand Prix to enhance his image with the Italian population.
