Oerlikon with Sauber until 2015
Swiss company Oerlikon is delighted with its strengthened collaboration with Sauber. It has therefore decided to continue the venture at least until 2015.
Oerlikon began its involvement with the Swiss team as a simple supplier through its activities in coating machinery. Last year, it also provided another of its flagship products, namely the covering of parking lots at the Hinwil headquarters with its solar panels.
This latest installation resulted in a mutually beneficial exchange with the team as Oerlikon now has a prime spot on the single-seaters and suits of Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Pérez. The new three-year agreement thus stipulates that Oerlikon will maintain the same position in the coming years.
Michael Buscher, the CEO of the company, stated: « Since the beginning of our partnership with the Sauber F1 Team, new interests and joint projects at the highest technical level have emerged. Our reliable cooperation with Sauber is very valuable to us. The FIA Formula 1 World Championship not only has a high-frequency global profile due to its numerous races, but it is also synonymous with extreme technical competence. Oerlikon products play an important role in the automotive sector, and being able to test our innovative technologies in the highly competitive environment of Formula 1 while nurturing our common Swiss roots suits us very well. »
