Sunday: No points for Williams
The disappointment is once again present for the Williams team following the Japanese Grand Prix at the legendary Suzuka circuit. Drivers Pastor Maldonado and Rubens Barrichello did not shine, finishing 14th and 17th respectively.
Pastor Maldonado – 14th:
« We had quite a few difficulties at the start of the race with our tires, and that penalized us during our first stint. Things improved greatly after our second pit stop. Our race was solid after that. Towards the end of the race, our pace was fast; in fact, I believe it was our best pace of the weekend, but it was too late for us. I think I did my best, even though it wasn’t enough. »
Rubens Barrichello – 17th:
Everything seemed to be going perfectly at the start, until the safety car came out. It was not the right time for us. We found ourselves stuck having to fight with tires that were not suitable until the end of the race, during which the pace was not good.
Marc Gillan – Chief Operations Officer
« We tried different strategies today between the two cars with three stops for Rubens and two stops for Pastor. When the safety car came out, we changed Pastor’s strategy to three stops. Both our drivers fought well but unfortunately, we were not able to score points today. We will continue to develop the car and now look forward to Korea and India. »
