Rémi Taffin: “Very happy to extend with Red Bull”

Are you happy with the extension with Red Bull?

Rémi Taffin: « Yes, of course, it’s very good news and it allows us to have a long-term vision. It also shows that the team is satisfied with our services. »

Were you worried?

« No, for us, it happened naturally. We renewed because our client requested it. They were really satisfied with our partnership since we have been equipping them, and together we succeed. They are doing quite well, so they didn’t really have a reason to change engine suppliers. »

Were you aware of being in competition?

No, honestly, we haven’t heard any particular noise about a possible change of engine supplier from Red Bull’s side. We were under much more pressure last year when Mercedes made a proposal.

Are you confident about the performance of the Renault engine block this weekend?

« Yes, of course, you know the engines are validated on test benches by going through Spa, Monza, and Suzuka. So we are confident in the reliability that it will have here. »

« We have three teams to manage. They all need to be ready for the race with the right settings. Each car has its own, which also contributes to good performance. »

On this subject, you speak of team as well as client, do you think you favor certain teams more than others?

« No, you know we really have the same contracts with each team and we take care of Red Bull as well as Team Lotus. »

So you have lost all specific ties with Lotus Renault GP?

Of course, we’re especially leaning towards this team in the paddocks and here we hope that Senna and Petrov can perform well. But we’re confident, they will likely fight with Force India and Sauber, but there are good signs of progress.
