Lotus Renault GP is working on the R32

As in 2010, the former Renault F1 Team, now Lotus Renault GP, is battling against Mercedes GP to finish the season in 4th place in the world championship. If the duel last year turned in favor of the German team, and they are still ahead at this point in the 2011 season, Lotus Renault GP still retains a chance of achieving the goal of finishing just behind the Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari teams at the end of the year.

For this, the British team will make significant improvements to the aerodynamic package of the cars for the demanding Belgian Grand Prix. On this subject, James Allison, the technical director of Lotus Renault GP, stated that a new floor, a new rear suspension, and modified exhausts will be brought by the team to Spa-Francorchamps.

But the technical director of the former Renault F1 Team also emphasized that the LRGP team has indeed started to focus on the 2012 season by already working on the team’s future car, the R32: “At this time of the year, the majority of teams’ aerodynamic resources are transferred to next season’s car.” The 2012 car for the team led by Eric Boullier would therefore already be under study within the walls of the Enstone factory.

James Allison also stated that the current R31 will undergo significant developments over the next three or four Grand Prix events before the development of this season’s 2011 car becomes less important…
