Ricciardo shows ambition
The young Australian Daniel Ricciardo has taken a seat in the HRT team since the British Grand Prix and for the rest of the season, he is showing ambition by setting himself goals.
Little known to the general public until his first Grand Prix, where he replaced Narain Karthikeyan with the HRT team at the Silverstone event, Ricciardo finished 19th, one lap behind Vitantonio Liuzzi. Since then, he has repeated similar performances in Germany and Hungary, where he managed to outperform his teammate. However, to improve his results, the Australian driver believes he needs to spend more time in the car. Nevertheless, he sets goals such as beating Tonio and the two Virgin cars multiple times, which would be a very good result for him.
Considered to take the wheel of a Toro Rosso next season, the Australian is looking ahead and for that, I must set a high goal because it can only help me for the future. I think I can really start pushing to achieve this goal during the last races of the season. But he knows it will be difficult to do as well as Liuzzi with his impressive 13th place at the Canadian GP, which is so far the best performance by an HRT this season.
To achieve great races, I don’t think I should rely on luck; it just requires a lot of work. I really need to gather as much information as I can to try to become the driver I want to be and, hopefully, the one who might one day secure HRT’s best result. For example, during his first race, the rookie was far behind his teammate, but since then he has kept up: Tonio has shown that he is a good driver and I think he will be difficult to beat.
Between Hungary and Belgium, Ricciardo will not rest on his laurels as he will undertake significant physical work in the midst of his commercial obligations for his team.
