Video: Kubica’s Accident Reconstructed in 3D!

This 3D reconstruction demonstrates the events of the accident that occurred to Robert Kubica on Sunday, February 6, 2011, while he was participating in the first stage of an Italian rally.

We can see that the safety rail was cut in two, embedding itself in the body of the Skoda. The safety rail then passed through the cockpit at the accelerator pedal level, all the way to the trunk.

This reconstruction explains the severity of the injuries sustained by Kubica, from the leg to the hand, the most affected limb, which today calls into question the Polish driver’s career in Formula 1.

Robert Kubica is still in intensive care at the hospital today. He will undergo another operation tomorrow to address the fractures in his leg.

Lotus Renault GP, his team in F1, is currently looking for a replacement. Several drivers will be tested during the private tests in Jerez at the end of the week while rumors mention possible contact with Kimi Räikkönen, former world champion with Ferrari and private driver in WRC rally this season and since 2010.
