According to AFP, the medical prognosis for the Polish driver Robert Kubica remains “reserved,” according to the doctors who operated on him this afternoon at the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure (south of Genoa), following his serious accident at the Ronde di Andora rally in Italy.
The surgical intervention by Professor Igor Rossello lasted seven hours. The doctor expressed moderate satisfaction with the operation, according to the Italian agency Ansa. The right hand of the F1 driver from the Lotus Renault team, which was partially severed, was revascularized and the fractures were set.
It will take several days to determine if the hand, from a neurological and vascular standpoint, will be able to regain its full functionality. The surgeons had to stop a significant internal hemorrhage and stabilize the fracture of the right femur.
The surgeon specifies in this video that a year should be necessary to ensure the rehabilitation of the Polish patient.
Kubica, 26, suffers from multiple fractures and is injured in the arm, leg, and right hand, according to Lotus Renault.
