Kubica has multiple fractures but is out of danger

We reported this morning on the serious accident of Robert Kubica, a Formula 1 driver for Lotus Renault GP in this 2011 season. The Polish driver was participating in a rally in Italy in a Skoda Fabia S2000 for the first time, after having driven extensively with a Renault Clio in the previous two seasons.

A health report was conducted by the LRGP team, which sent the following communiqué to its journalists:

After undergoing extensive medical checks this morning, Robert Kubica was diagnosed with multiple fractures to his arm, right leg, and hand. He is currently undergoing surgery at Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure.

Daniel Morelli, Robert Kubica’s manager, will give an interview to journalists in the early afternoon. We will know more in a few moments. The driver’s life is not in danger, nor is that of his co-driver who got away with a few scratches…

Robert Kubica’s Formula 1 career is currently in question. F1 fans are already looking for his replacement, with Bruno Senna’s name being mentioned most frequently.
