Lotus GP Renault presents its 2011 colors

At the Autosport International Show in Birmingham (UK), Lotus GP Renault unveiled an R30 single-seater in the colors of its new livery – black and gold.

Renault, which is now French only in its engine and a quarter of its name, logically unveiled its new colors in England, on the grounds of Lotus – its main shareholder and sponsor.

Unsurprisingly, the new deliveries will be black with gold lines and touches. Photographs had already been released to the press at the beginning of the year. Modifications have notably been made to the pontoons where the Union Jack logo (flag of the United Kingdom) has since been removed.

These colors follow the scheme presented in the years 1978-83 when the team was then sponsored by a black and gold cigarette manufacturer.

It was Eric Bouiller and Vitaly Petrov who presented to the press the new graphic design of the R31, the truck garages, and all the merchandise. Robert Kubica was not at the event but will be present on January 31, 2011, for the official presentation of the new car in Valencia, Spain – the day before the official start of the 2011 tests.

To assist the team, Jean Alesi, former Formula 1 driver, was also present at the presentation. The Frenchman is expected to play an important role alongside the team this season as a consultant.

The official launch of the team will take place in Valencia, Spain, on January 31st.
