Eric Boullier, Team Principal of the Renault F1 Team, announced via press release the extension of Robert Kubica’s contract until 2012 with the French team.
Boullier said he was happy with this contract: “We are delighted that Robert is staying with us for the next two seasons, and I would like to thank him for the confidence he has in the team. There has been a lot of speculation about his future in recent weeks, and this is indeed recognition of his work this year. We are very pleased to have signed a multi-year contract.”
Our objective is to contend for the world title in the next two seasons. We need a driver like Robert to be able to achieve this goal: he is fast, completely dedicated, and does not make mistakes. His performances in the first part of the season have been exemplary and we hope to achieve great things together in the future.
The future of Renault’s second driver, Vitaly Petrov, is more uncertain. It seems that Kimi Räikkönen is in the running.
