Lewis Hamilton of McLaren set the fastest time in the first free practice session during the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. McLaren secured the top two positions with Jenson Button in second place.

Red Bull was the first team to take to the track and for a while it seemed that Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel could secure the lead position. But first, Michael Schumacher and Button, then Hamilton, beat them.
