Chandhok is penalized by five places on the starting grid

Karun Chandhok will have a five-place grid penalty for the Chinese Grand Prix taking place tomorrow, Sunday. This is the result of a gearbox change during the night from Friday to Saturday.

Every time a team opens the gearbox, this is supposed to be an official FIA gift, but Chandhok’s HRT team conducted its work without the presence of an observer.

As it is a violation of the regulations, Chandhok will have to drop five places at the end of the qualifying session.
