Mercedes GP confirmed this morning via press release the signing of a sponsorship contract with the brand Monster Energy. The logos of the energy drink had already appeared yesterday on the helmets of the German team’s drivers and the partnership was confirmed today.
Monster Energy was already sponsoring Rubens Barrichello last season with a presence on the Brazilian’s helmet, and gradually on that of his teammate Jenson Button. With the Brawn GP drivers sponsored in 2009, it was only natural for the American company to sponsor the successor: Mercedes GP. Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher will therefore benefit from this contract, which takes effect today. The logos will appear on the drivers’ helmets as well as on the front of their suits.
« We are delighted to welcome Monster Energy to Mercedes GP, » confirms Nick Fry. « Monster already tasted success last year in Formula 1 and we are happy that they have chosen our team to continue their sponsorship in the sport in 2010. »
Mark Hall, the CEO of Monster Energy, also welcomed the partnership: « After a timely sponsorship last year with Jenson Button, the reigning world champion, we continue to sponsor the drivers of Mercedes GP – with a formidable line-up consisting of Schumacher, seven-time F1 world champion, and Rosberg, a new generation talent. »
Monster Energy thus joins Red Bull in Formula 1 in the highly competitive energy drink market.
