Giancarlo Fisichella still hopes to be able to drive a Formula 1 in a Grand Prix for the 2010 season. The Italian, currently in a meeting with Ferrari in the Alps, has a contract as a test – reserve driver. He replaced Felipe Massa’s substitute after his accident, Luca Badoer, but ultimately does not intend to stop competing.

Fisichella had decided a few months ago to end his career with Ferrari after his transfer from Force India for the last five races of the 2009 season. But at 37, the Italian ultimately wants a seat for 2010: « Never say never, as they say… »

« When I signed my contract with Ferrari, it was a surprise. I had little time left in my career, and I didn’t think I could race for them. Never say never… »

Since then, Fisichella has secured a long-term contract with the Scuderia, but he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of racing again: « Abu Dhabi could be my last Grand Prix… or not. I would be happy to know my future, and if I see that I’m not racing anymore, I would be happy to end my career at Ferrari: it’s a great opportunity. Becoming a third driver elsewhere could be boring, but here it’s fantastic. »

Fisichella is therefore open to all proposals and no clause in his contract would prevent him from leaving Ferrari: « If a team calls me, I would be happy to discuss it with them to perhaps drive one more season. Ferrari is not against it. »
