Red Bull had already announced its engine supplier a few weeks ago, and it was Renault. However, with the recent doubts from the French team about its future in Formula 1, Christian Horner has confirmed his decision and will indeed continue in 2010 with V8 engines from Viry-Châtillon.
The Red Bull Renault partnership will continue for the 4th consecutive season. Christian Horner sees no reason to change: « 2009 was our best season in Formula 1. In one year, we won six times and achieved four one-two finishes. None of this would have ever been possible without the excellent support and assistance provided by Renault. »
Renault deploys at each event a special truck reserved exclusively for Red Bull Racing: « We are very happy with the way we work with them and we want to continue this fruitful partnership in 2010. »
With Toyota’s withdrawal, Red Bull could also choose Mercedes engines. Already reserved for McLaren and Force India, it was the arrival of Cosworth that had cast doubt on the use of Renault engines in 2010. The doubts are definitively lifted.
