From the start of the Qatar Grand Prix, the 2nd and 3rd Mercedes got off to a good start. Hamilton managed to catch up with George Russell and Max Verstappen at the first turn but closed the door a little too early on his teammate who sent Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes into a spin.
The seven-time world champion driver had to abandon, in the gravel trap. He comments on the radio « I got taken out by my own teammate. »
Finally, after reviewing the images, Lewis Hamilton changes his stance and takes responsibility. « I think it’s a racing incident, I’m even ready to take the responsibility. »
