The second day of the Brazilian Grand Prix was scheduled to begin a few minutes ago, at 4:00 PM in France, 11:00 AM locally. Free Practice sessions have been postponed until further notice due to the heavy rain falling at Interlagos.
The medical helicopter cannot take off in an emergency, and conditions are too dangerous on the track for Formula 1 cars to run. Therefore, the track marshals are preventing access until it calms down.
It has been raining heavily for an hour now. The tropical storm is expected to stop in a few minutes, but rain is expected throughout the day, likely making the program’s progress difficult. It is still unknown what time the session will start.
Disruptions are therefore expected for the race. We will keep you informed of any developments.
UPDATE: After improvements in conditions, the track was opened at 11:42 local time and the session will not be extended beyond the initial schedule. The FP3 will therefore finish at 12:00 in Brazil and 17:00 in France as planned.
