After Dubai, Oviedo, and more recently Sochi, it was in Bucharest, Romania, that Renault F1 Team made its single-seaters roar this weekend as part of its 2009 Roadshow program. Romain Grosjean, the main driver of the Renault F1 Team, and the team’s third driver, Lucas Di Grassi, put on a show in the streets of Bucharest.
It was indeed in front of more than 70,000 people and in an especially warm atmosphere that Romain and Lucas made the R28 roar. Donuts, burns, and other maneuvers aimed at demonstrating the full potential of a Formula One car were greatly appreciated by the crowd!
The route, specially designed for the occasion, followed Libertatii Boulevard in front of the imposing Palace of the Parliament, just steps from the city center. It allowed the Renault F1 Team to offer an exceptional demonstration in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the key features of this Roadshow program.
At the end of the Roadshow, Romain Grosjean commented: « It’s the first time I’ve been to Romania, and I must say I really enjoyed it. We were very well received, and the atmosphere in Bucharest was superb. The residents of Bucharest had never had the opportunity to see Formula One up close before, so we aimed to provide a quality show, and I believe we succeeded! »
Lucas Di Grassi added: « I really enjoyed this visit to Romania. The public came in large numbers, and I hope they had as much fun as I did… Racing in the city remains very impressive and intense because the public is so close. It’s a very strong feeling, and I had a lot of fun this weekend. »
