The Frenchman Romain Grosjean needs to refocus since he has been present since last August, but in four Grand Prix, he has not shown all the potential of the former GP2 champion that he was. His last weekend in Singapore was even an ordeal. Grosjean failed to adapt to this track that he did not know. Things will need to change because the three remaining races, including the Japanese Grand Prix, are unfamiliar to the Renault driver.

He still wishes to help his future ex-teammate, Fernando Alonso, score some points in the Constructors’ Championship. But with the Spaniard’s departure next year, we should see the Frenchman return without a problem in 2010.

Romain, your race in Singapore ended very early. A disappointing race and a difficult weekend for you…

« Yes, it’s probably one of the most difficult weekends of my racing career. I had to learn the circuit, which wasn’t very easy because technical issues during free practice reduced my track time. As a result, I never really felt confident. During the qualifying session, we had problems with the brakes. We thought we had fixed them for the race, but the team asked me to retire when they reappeared at the start of the race. So it wasn’t a very good weekend, but now I’m focusing on the Japanese Grand Prix. »

Suzuka presents a new challenge for you. Is it a circuit that inspires you?

« I don’t know this circuit but I’ve always dreamed of racing there. It’s one of the traditional tracks on the calendar. I’ve seen the circuit on television many times, I almost know it by heart! I’m really looking forward to driving there and tackling its fast corners, like the 130R, for example. »

How are you approaching the end of this season?

All the circuits will be new for me, so I already know that the challenge will be great. I hope to have better luck in the upcoming races as I have yet to complete a race without issues. My goal remains to be able to help the team score points that will be important in the constructors’ championship.
