Heidfeld started from the pit lane in Singapore

Nick Heidfeld started from the pits during the Singapore Grand Prix. The German qualified in eighth position, but he started from the pit lane after his car was found to be too light following the qualifying session.

« When Nick Heidfeld’s car was weighed after qualifying, we discovered that we were slightly below the minimum weight, » said a BMW spokesperson. « We investigated this situation and found that incorrect ballast had been fitted to the car. »

We have communicated our results to the FIA. As a result, Nick will start the Singapore Grand Prix from the pit lane. As we find ourselves in this situation, the team has also decided to change the engine and gearbox.
