Romain Grosjean, just fired, is going to sue Andretti in Indycar court
Romain Grosjean confirmed to NBC Sport at the beginning of September that he will not be staying with Andretti at the end of the 2023 Indycar season. The Franco-Swiss driver announced today that he is filing a lawsuit against the American team in Indiana.
In early September, Romain Grosjean threw a big tantrum against his pit and his team. Yet another one. A few days later, Andretti confirmed the arrival of Markus Ericsson without mentioning Romain Grosjean’s departure.
The Franco-Swiss driver will however confirm the information to NBC Sport a few days later: « I am out, but I am a Phoenix. I will always find a place to land. I can’t talk about what Michael Andretti is doing with the fourth car, but I have other IndyCar teams talking to me. I will land on my feet. »
Andretti currently engages 4 single-seaters in the Indycar championship, but the question of moving to only three single-seaters is underway, which has not helped Romain Grosjean’s matters, with already Colton Herta, Kyle Kirkwood as in 2023 and therefore Marcus Ericsson in 2024.
File a complaint against Andretti
Romain Grosjean announced this Wednesday, October 4, requested the intervention of the courts to arbitrate this decision, in Indiana.
« I enjoyed working with the Andretti Autosport Indycar team and I am proud of the successes we had over two seasons. I am grateful for the friendships developed in this high level racing series. » he explains in a statement on his networks.
« I was planning to continue competing with the people from Andretti Autosport in the following years. I am very disappointed that this is not happening and I wish the best for the team members. I continue to search for other options to race in Indycar. »
« I started an arbitration process in Indiana against Andretti Autosport to protect my rights. » ends the statement.
