Campos will not unveil its drivers before the end of November

The Campos Grand Prix team, which will make its Formula 1 debut next year, has announced that its driver lineup will not be revealed before the end of November. Adrian Campos wants to wait until the season is over to make his choice.

The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) recently visited the Spanish team that has confirmed its availability for the 2010 F1 season. Plans are progressing as expected, and Adrian Campos does not want to rush in selecting his drivers.

« We want to have decided on our driver line-up as soon as possible, but not before mid-November. We have many other things to do before then. We need to find and select sponsors, debrief on priorities and the nationality of the drivers… There are so many things to consider. We must first enter F1, then we can think about the names of our drivers. » Commented Mr. Campos to journalists today.

« It’s not easy to make a choice. The nationality of the drivers is very important and has a very different impact depending on each country – for the sponsors and much more. Therefore, we have to pay attention to many parameters to ensure the team’s success. »

Adrian Campos clarified that a Spanish driver was by no means mandatory for the team, even though, personally, he would prefer it. Pedro de la Rosa is obviously at the top of the list: « He is indeed well-positioned, so it will be either him or Marc Gene, but we must wait and see what happens in the next two or three weeks. »

We have known for a few weeks now, Campos will use Cosworth engines next year. For him, everything is going as planned: « Everything is happening as we had decided for now. Sometimes it’s difficult because we are starting from scratch and developing an F1 from scratch, you can imagine the task… But for the moment, I’m crossing my fingers, but everything is OK. We will be more than ready for the first race. »

The first Campos livery is expected to be unveiled to the public at the end of January 2010. Regarding the second driver, Alguersuari should also be a serious contender for the position. The Spaniard is currently racing for Toro Rosso as a replacement for Sébastien Bourdais.
