Pirelli will bring soft tires for the USA, Mexico, and Brazil GPs

There are officially 6 different types of tires designed by Pirelli in the F1 2023 range. The C0s are very hard and therefore last a long time but provide little performance. They are particularly interesting when it’s very hot or when the track grips too much. Conversely, the C5 tires are very soft and are particularly suitable when it’s less hot and the track tends to consume little rubber.

For the USA Grand Prix, Pirelli will bring the C2 to C4 tires. So, it’s not about the softest possible tires, the track being particularly recent and providing good road holding.

In Mexico, at altitude, the single-seaters will need grip. Therefore, Pirelli will bring the C3 to C5 tires, the softest tires in its range. At this Grand Prix, new C4 tires will also be tested by Pirelli during Free Practice 1. They will be called “proto” and offered to teams in comparison with the currently available C4 tires to check if their predictability and temperature range is easier to use than those available this season.

Finally in Brazil, for the penultimate race of the F1 2023 calendar, Pirelli has chosen to opt for the C2 to C4 range, just like for the USA.

Note that the USA and Brazil Grand Prix will be sprint races.
