The work that Ferrari has been putting in since the beginning of the summer will undoubtedly allow them to remain third in the Constructors’ Championship. This is, in any case, the team’s objective, which now relies on Giancarlo Fisichella to gain additional points. Kimi Räikkönen has been doing so since the German Grand Prix in July. Since then, the Finn has consistently made it to the podium, with the highlight being a victory on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit (Belgium).
The Scuderia will continue to use its KERS and is looking forward to tomorrow’s first tests to find the best possible package and set-up.
Kimi Räikkönen – Racing Driver
« I am happy to go to Singapore. It’s a fantastic city and I don’t mind running in the evening. Moreover, it’s a city circuit, one of the slowest, and this type of track suits me very well this year. Just look at Valencia and Monaco. There’s no reason why this weekend should go badly. Last year, at the end of the race, I hit a wall while fighting for fourth position with Glock. I really don’t like that memory. The first night race was actually quite sad for us. »
« Outside of a few clear zones, the track is perfectly lit. There is no difference from daytime. As on all tracks of this kind, overtaking is almost impossible. The KERS will be an advantage, but it won’t make the difference as it did at Spa or Monza. If it’s true that the F60 is more competitive on slow circuits, then it is also true that other teams come with improvements, which is why it will be more difficult for us. We must try to use the best package and find the best setup. If we reach perfection, then we can fight for a place on the podium. That’s our goal. »
« We have secured a podium position five times since the Nürburgring. I have scored the same number of points as the leaders in the standings. Let’s hope we can do this until the end of the season. It would be great to finish in third place in the constructors’ championship, but it will be very difficult as well. In the last four Grand Prix, we only had one car in the points, but now we also need to expect the second car to contribute to our success. I am sure that, thanks to his experience, Giancarlo [Fisichella] can do it. I think that, out of the four remaining races, the one in Singapore will suit Ferrari the best. If we want to win, we need to be perfect. But after the victory in Spa, it would be fantastic to reconnect with that feeling. »
