Ari Vatanen, candidate for the position of FIA president, announced his proposed Senate members who will support him for the October election. The former world rally champion revealed that his Senate candidates were Robert Darbelnet from the American Automobile Association, Beaulah Schoeman from Motorsport South Africa, Setsuo Tanaka from the Japan Automobile Federation, Guido Van Woerkom from the Royal Dutch Touring Club, and Eduardo Silva Araya from the Automobile Club of Chile.
Speaking about the candidates, Vatanen stated: « Once again, these high-ranking representatives from the automotive world have expressed their faith in our mission and have honored us with their support. With Fernando Falco, candidate for the Senate presidency, and the two candidates for vice president, Bernard Tay and Hermann Tomczyk, it’s a good mix of people from the largest clubs as well as from more modest clubs. In any case, they have experience in the automotive world, and there is a good balance between the different regions. »
« I am particularly pleased that the African continent, where the ‘mobility’ component of the FIA plays a crucial role in eradicating poverty, is represented by a lady, Beulah Schoeman, who has a lot of experience in many fields. Africa is a great school of life for me and it doesn’t leave me indifferent, » he concluded.
