Catch-up Session – Week No. 37

As every Monday, find the essential F1 news from the past week exclusively on casinoenlignefrance.eu.com. On the agenda, the race weekend in Italy at the legendary Monza circuit. Nicknamed the Temple of Speed, it was Brawn GP who were the most strategic. Rubens Barrichello clinches his second victory of the season ahead of Jenson Button. Kimi Räikkönen steps onto the podium after Hamilton’s crash deprives him of six points. Adrian Sutil finishes 4th in his VJM02 for Force India, who remain on pace. Fernando Alonso saves Renault from drowning with a fine 5th place while Heikki Kovalainen scores McLaren’s only points of the weekend. He is 6th, followed by Nick Heidfeld (BMW) and Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull). This week was also marked by the Renault affair and the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. The Piquet family against Flavio Briatore, the fight promises to be fierce. Finally, after months of disunity, Williams and Force India rejoin FOTA.

Brawn GP takes back control after the Italian Grand Prix

It was a superb race that the spectators and viewers witnessed this weekend. It was the 13th round of the championship on a Sunday the 13th… Brawn GP was not unlucky and, thanks to a strong strategy by Ross Brawn, the team secured another double in this 2009 season. Barrichello won ahead of his teammate Jenson Button. The driver expected to be on the podium was Lewis Hamilton, but due to relentless attacking, he was unlucky and went off at the Lesmo bend. That’s how six points can slip away! This fully benefits Kimi Räikkönen, who climbs to his fourth consecutive podium. A great performance for the Finn, making up for Ferrari’s early-season troubles. Adrian Sutil delivers another strong performance for Force India, continuing to impress. Heikki Kovalainen salvages McLaren’s honor with three new points. Nick Heidfeld continues his momentum from the Belgian GP. Adrian Vettel, very subdued this weekend, scores a point thanks to Hamilton. The Toyotas and the Williams were absent as in Belgium (a new type of track can’t come soon enough!). Romain Grosjean finished in 15th place, while Webber retired. In the standings, Brawn GP and Button make a very good move even though Barrichello takes two points back from the Englishman. Ferrari solidifies its 3rd place.

Renault Faces a New Storm

After the summer affair and Fernando Alonso’s wheel, the Renault team is plunged into another dark matter… This one dates back a year to the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. During the race, Nelson Piquet, then a Renault driver, is involved in an accident that requires the deployment of the safety car. This greatly benefits Fernando Alonso, who subsequently wins the race. A few weeks ago, the FIA decided to reopen an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this racing incident. Nelson Piquet was then let go by the French team on bad terms. This is enough to tackle Renault regarding the Singapore GP. According to him, he was asked to cause this accident to favor Alonso. In light of the magnitude of these statements, Renault decided to file a complaint. The verdict will be known on September 21.

The real FOTA rises from its ashes!

While the association of Formula 1 teams was left in turmoil at the beginning of the summer during the battle between FIA and FOTA, the latter is united once again. The current 10 teams are once more part of the organization, which means that Williams and Force India have rejoined the ranks. Good omens before the end of the season… FOTA is even now inviting the three new teams to get in touch in anticipation of 2010. Campos Meta, USF1, and Manor GP would be wrong not to join FOTA…
