Assessment: Second consecutive failure for Williams

Two weeks ago in Belgium, Nico Rosberg had the chance to be in the top 8 to ultimately score a point. This week, the situation is quite different as the German finished the race last among those who did not retire, with four retirements in this Grand Prix. It is therefore a poor performance as his teammate Kazuki Nakajima is well ahead of him in 10th position.

Yet, once again the Japanese doesn’t score points… It was therefore a rough patch for the Grove team, struggling on circuits like Spa and Monza. In two weeks, it’s back to business in Singapore.

Kazuki Nakajima – 10th:

« We finished the race in a good position today considering our qualifying performance. I managed to gain a few positions in the first corners and that made a big difference. The race pace wasn’t high enough, but we managed to do some good laps and I think it was positive to keep Glock behind me, even though he was going faster than me. I think we need to find more speed in the car, Singapore should be a good race for us. »

Nico Rosberg – 16th:

« It was a bad weekend for the team. To begin with, we lacked pace from the start of the trials, and then we had a number of questions during the race. I had a good first lap and made up to four overtakes both left and right. Then, I was hit on the front left by some debris, and the car became very different with a lot of understeer, so I assumed I had a puncture. I asked for the pits. In fact, the aerodynamic balance was affected, and it was the start of a difficult race. Today is to be put behind us and we must look forward to the next race. »

Patrick Head – Director of Engineering:

« Kazuki [Nakajima] had a good day today as he started 17th to finish in tenth position, especially since he suffered bodywork damage but was also a victim of a fuel pressure issue. He therefore lost some power at high revs. Nico [Rosberg] had several problems today causing many unexpected pit stops. Although Kazuki drove well, he did not score any points. »
