It is a source of satisfaction to see that hard work pays off. Force India must be proud day by day of its progress since the start of the season while continuing to strive for more. On the Spa circuit, like all the other teams, it fell a bit behind this morning due to the rain and had to catch up in the afternoon.
The single-seaters are still just as reliable even if the drivers complained about understeering. Indeed, Adrian Sutil, who finished 13th tonight, feels increasingly comfortable in the VJM02, and Giancarlo Fisichella, who recorded the 6th fastest time this afternoon, could have done even better. A promising Saturday for Force India…
Adrian Sutil – 16th and 13th:
« It’s great to be back at Spa this weekend. I really enjoy driving here, even in the rain. I’m very happy today. We had a lot of work to do in the afternoon to achieve a proper balance on the car. The tires were worked on for some time. We had quite a bit of understeer, but once we understood the problem, I felt much more comfortable in the car and at our pace. Unfortunately, I had traffic on my last lap, so my time isn’t an accurate reflection of what we could do, but I’m confident for tomorrow. »
Giancarlo Fisichella – 11th and 6th:
« We had a lot of understeer early in the afternoon, but we improved the car’s balance and made a good step forward for the last stint of the day. My last lap was good, and I’m happy because I recorded a fast time. We still need to work on the understeer, but other than that, the day wasn’t too bad. It’s hard to say where we’ll be tomorrow, but the top 15 is realistic, and of course, we’re going to try our best to get a spot in the top 10, but that’s going to be very difficult. »
Dominic Harlow – Chief Engineer
« It wouldn’t have been a spa without a wet session, which means that our afternoon tests were slightly important as we had to adapt to all the work we had planned. It’s clear here, we need to evaluate the wings and the effects that has on speed and setup. The drivers reported some understeer, and there’s still some work to be done on the installation. We will have to work hard to maintain our level of competitiveness from Valencia. »
