Domenicali confirms Badoer for the Belgian GP

Luca Badoer is struggling, and after a race weekend without any judgment, out of the game, Ferrari still wants to believe in his replacement and will give Badoer the opportunity to continue driving the F60 at Spa this weekend. Domenicali indirectly states that the Italian could be replaced after the Belgian Grand Prix if his performance does not improve.

« First, it was important for Badoer to finish the race, even if it was difficult. You have to stay calm and focused for an hour and a half, which he wasn’t used to anymore. I am sure that what we saw in Valencia is not the real Luca [Badoer]. He has real potential and had to deal with a lot of pressure this weekend even though we didn’t try to apply it. » Comments Stefano Domenicali on the BBC.

Badoer qualified in last position for the European Grand Prix this weekend and finished the race 17th, ahead of Nakajima, who had a puncture, and the two retirements from the race. When asked if Badoer would still be participating next week at Spa, the Italian official confirmed, without further details.

« We must address the issue together, starting Monday, and we’ll see. I think it’s important for the team and for him that he is in Belgium as a main driver: we really want to give him a second chance. I think he will be part of it… »

The Italian therefore no longer mentions the rest of the season and if the results have not improved, should change the replacement driver for Massa – after his serious accident in Hungary – after the Belgian Grand Prix.
